Conveying emotional sensitivity and dramatic flair, Ruby Jin’s performance has been hailed as “free and affluent...showcasing Jin’s outstanding technical capabilities and musical expression.” As an avid recitalist and chamber musician, Ruby Jin performs across Canada, such as Ottawa Chamberfest, St. Albert Chamber Music Recital Series in Edmonton, Müzewest Festival in Vancouver, and L'Oasis Musicale in Montreal. She has also appeared in international musical scenes in China, South Korea, Germany, and UK. Ms. Jin’s repertoire ranges from classical sonatas to twentieth-century atonal works, and from German Lieder to piano trios. She has been exploring new music, and premiered a number of chamber and solo works.

Aside from performance, Ruby Jin devotes herself to educational endeavours. She held a teaching position at McGill during her doctoral residency. In the past few years, she has conducted music outreach programs with school presentations and piano masterclasses in Ottawa, Timmins, Edmonton, and Vancouver. Based in Ottawa, she maintains a dynamic and active teaching studio, sharing her passion and knowledge with young generation. Having served as the president of Harmelodic Music Club and as an adjudicator in the Ottawa Piano Festival, Ms. Jin supports local musical organizations and promotes musical excellence in the communities of the National Capital Region.

A recipient of J. W. McConnell Memorial Fellowship, Ruby Jin holds a Doctor of Music degree in piano performance from the Schulich School of Music of McGill University where she studied with Richard Raymond, Kyoko Hashimoto, and Sara Laimon. Her doctoral dissertation offered an analytical study of fugues in four twentieth-century multi-movement piano sonatas from a performer’s perspective. It was highly praised by the McGill doctoral committee as “a contribution (that) will no doubt be beneficial to those who engage with her work.”
